Steve Hokanson
I’m Steve Hokanson, founder of Thacksland Books, and my journey into bookkeeping started with a 25-year career in Accounting and Claims in Corporate America. I’ve always loved working with numbers and problem-solving, so transitioning into helping small businesses with their books was a natural next step.
I started by serving land investors, a field my wife, Tonsha, and I know well as investors ourselves. Now, we’ve expanded our services to support entrepreneurs and business owners in all industries, providing reliable bookkeeping services that take the stress out of managing finances.
The name THACKS is a tribute to my wife and kids, reminding me daily why I do what I do—supporting families and business owners in their financial success.
When I'm not crunching numbers, you’ll find me hiking with my wife, enjoying time with our four amazing kids, or watching football. My wife and I have been happily married for 28 years, and family is at the heart of everything I do.

Fun Fact - THACKS includes the first initial of each of my families names(Tonsha(wife), Hannah(daughter), AJ (son), Cortney (daughter), Kayla(daughter)and Steve(me).
Damon Schuler
I’m Damon Schuler, an accountant with over 30 years of experience, primarily in the service industry, with additional expertise in manufacturing. I’m also the CFO and Co-Founder of Shakopee Brewhall, a local taproom and coffee shop. That entrepreneurial spirit—and my passion for helping other small business owners—is what brought me to Thacksland Books.
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to run a business while trying to keep up with the financial responsibilities. At Thacksland, our objective is to remove that stress from our small business clients so they can focus on their business.
My wife, Jodi, and our two daughters, Alexis & Avery, are the heart and soul of why I do what I do. Life is short, and before you know it, your children are adults! When we aren’t running to hockey practice or band concerts, we like trying new foods and restaurants, traveling, and catching some good movies.
